Indian Hair Tips
A great Indian hair tips for transitioning ladies is to not be afraid to do your Big Chop. I went without a relaxer for 6 months and then one day I decided it was time to make a change. To make sure I folloed through with it I took a BIG clump of my hair in my hand and proceeded to whack it off with a scissor. That left me with one of 2 choices…..continue cutting or end up with a big ole hairless section of my hair. Needless to say I kept on chopping and almost 2 years later I am SO happy I did it.Just take a deep breath and go for it! I was surprised at how great I looked with really short hair and you just might be as well.I generally don’t recommend beauty supply stores even though you can actually take a look at the hair. I find most beauty supply stores push off processed hair as Indian hair. They look nice and shiny and won’t last long. Sheen to hair doesn’t necessarily mean it is good quality. You can always use products to provide sheen to your Virgin human hair. Human hair is best if you are going for a truly natural and comfortable look and feel.Beauty supply stores also charge a high premium because they have a lot of overhead, there are much more affordable solutions internet based solutions out there. There is a misconception that you aren’t able to physically touch or feel the hair, this is not true if the company has a decent return policy.
Also having a phone
number to talk to someone helps. Choose a site with lots of
customer reviews, pictures and reasonable customer
service policies. Most Indians hair have a natural black color which ranges from
jet black to off black and dark brown. Sometimes the hair can
also be a lighter brown, which is caused by natural bleaching
from direct exposure to sunlight for long hours. Another reason for
reddish brown Indian hair is due to the application of Henna on
the hair. Henna is a herbal leaf which forms a natural conditioner for hair and a lot Indian women use it to cover their grey’s. I think hennaed hair is fine, but I find it to be a little rougher and more dry than non-hennaed hair. If you choose to use henna on your purchased Indian hair, use a good leave in moisturizer to keep thier hair well conditioned, this may prevent roughness or dryness. Another natural remedy to keep the hair moisturized is to use a few drops of olive oil mixed with water, just rub it in and leave it.. this also prevents the hair from drying. If you want to color your hair, then it is best to go with Virgin unprocessed Indian hair and get it colored. This is better than purchased colored hair because you are in control of the final hair color. Colored Virgin hair is also called Remy which means color is used on virgin hair. Always use a good branded coloring dye to color your virgin or Remy hair and avoid the ones with ammonia in it. |
